Father's Day Weekend

We are actually going to call this Father's Day Weekend part 1 because I didn't get the chance to celebrate with my Dad this weekend but will get to this upcoming weekend!
Anyways....we had another great weekend filled with lots of friends, pool time, and our little family of 3.5!
Friday night Volree and Nick invited us over for dinner. Oh my gosh it was delicious!!! Plus we love hanging out with Volree and Nick and their little boy Cooper! There were other couples there that we got to meet as well and they were all so nice. This place just is filled with fun couples:)

Jack is in major teething mode! One of his favorite objects is the beer bottle. I think it's because the bottle is hard and cold. But he is German so who knows.

Saturday morning we went on an early morning walk to the neighborhood farmer's market. By early I mean like 8am and look how sweaty Mike already is!

I got fresh farm tomatoes. One of my summer pleasures is fresh tomatoes. There is nothing like them when they come straight from the garden! They make everything 10x better like my BLT's later on that night:)

Saturday we just hung out. Went to the pool, met up with another fun couple Jen & Bob who encouraged me to let Jack "cry it out". Wonderful to have friends that have recently gone through all of these baby stages and can encourage you! We aren't that exciting anymore, we just try to entertain baby Jack anyway we can.

Ohhh I had such a fabulous surprise on Saturday afternoon! I got a package from Leah (I don't care how old you are a package in the mail, that you didn't online shop for yourself, is so exciting)! Inside was an awesome Cubs tshirt for next weeks night game and the sweetest note asking me to be her Matron of Honor! I am so "honored" that she wants to include me...the old married lady with a baby:) I have blogged about Leah before, I just love her and I am so lucky to have her as a sister now (even though she has felt like one for quite some time now). It is such a blessing that we have such a great relationship! Anyways, thank you Leah I am sooooo excited!!!!

Here is Mike Father's Day morning opening his gift before heading to church.
Then a "Jack Attack" emerged! We had to deal with this little monster. So in order to let other people enjoy their church service we watched Willow online. Mike Singletary was the guest speaker and he did an amazing job! The lesson that stuck most with me was that we need to Bless our children for what God designed them to be.
Watch here if you have the time!

One of Mike's Father's Day gifts was a lawnmower. We lived in a condo before so we didn't have to worry about a backyard...or front yard. I was so proud of him cutting the lawn for the first time since we have been married. And he assembled it himself. Way to go Hubby!
Later on that afternoon we went to dinner with Allison, Justin and their little girl Maddy. We ate across the street at their neighbors Julie and Jeremy...with their little boy Jude! Another great dinner with great people:)

Michael Postma, Happy First Father's Day! You are doing such an amazing job! It's been a hard year with transitions but you have been supportive, encouraging, and loving through them all. Life just keeps getting more exciting for us Preppy! Thank you working so hard in all that you do! Jack and I love you more and more each day! Very Happy that you are my baby's Daddy:)

Now even though we are celebrating Father's Day with my Dad next weekend I have to say a little word about him! This was the 2nd time that I have ever, in my life, not been with him on Father's Day. I know people just think it is a Hallmark holiday, but it gives me a chance to celebrate how lucky I am to have such a loving, funny, smart, caring, thoughtful, good looking :), and God honoring Dad! You are such a wonderful role model and we all love you!

Hope College Class of 2032

As many of you know Mike and I met at Hope College in Holland Michigan. We LOVE Hope! We are "hoping" that Jack loves Hope too!
Thank you Jessica (and Heads Up Two) for making this adorable shirt!!!

My men grilling. As you can see Jack doesn't wear a lot of clothes here:)
I just noticed that Mike has on his Hope shirt...I need a picture of them matching:) Maybe tomorrow!

Jack and I had our first play group today and it was so fun!!!! 3pm until Mike gets home is always the hardest part of the day, so to have wonderful women to get together with on a biweekly basis is amazing to look forward too!

My Aching Arms!

Jack does not like to be put down. He likes to be on my hip, on the go, in the action. He is now almost 22 lbs. It is becoming impossible to carry this lug around. I put him in the walker, he cries. In his playpen with lots of toys, he cries. His playmat with dog toys so Dutchie can play with him, he cries. Ugh what is a girl to do? But the choice is this: an achy head or achy arms. I choose my achy arms. That little Bear is a stinker too. He cries. Big teardrop cries. And as soon as I pick him up he smiles. I am a total push over. How do I get him over this? Then I look at these pictures and who can blame me? Look at that face!
On another note, this week has gone by so quickly! Monday I got a pedicure with Gina, it was so fun! My Mom got me a gift certificate before she left, how sweet. Seriously, Gina and I were so relaxed! A glass of wine, girl talk, seat massage, and babies with their daddies. A treat no doubt! Plus it was an unbelievable pedicure! We had our first does of Alabama thunderstorms. They come in so quickly and are fierce. Dutch did not appreciate. I need to wake up earlier to walk because it is 90 by 11 am here. Still loving every minute here!

1 Week Update from Our New Postma Home

This weekend marked our first week in our New Postma home. After spending a week here it is evident that God has had His hand on this whole move. The transition from Chicago to Birmingham has been much easier than anticipated. I love our neighborhood. I feel like a very spoiled girl every morning when I wake up. The scenery is just perfect and the people are nicer than you could ever imagine. We have already made some great friends that have taken us under their wings and made us feel at home already! Having Mike home every night is amazing and our relationship has grown so much in just this week, crazy what seeing your husband every day will do to a marriage:)
My Mom & Dad got us a plaque for the house that has the verse from Romans 8:28 on it, "In all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose". I am trusting that more and more each and every step of this great adventure. Moving far away from my family and life long friends was the hardest thing I had to do, but God has put us in a place and put people in our lives already that makes it hard to not believe He has always had a plan for us. It has only been a week, but so far so good! I am a happy girl.
The weather here is unbelievable! Sunny and warm everyday!

Friday night our new friends, Gina and Brian, had us over with another couple for dinner. It was wonderful Southern hospitality:) They have a son Luke who is just about a month older than Jack, this picture cracks me up because it is at like 10pm and they just look like little college buddies chilling on the couch!
These 2 have both developed bad sleep patterns this past week, it has been great to exchange war stories with another Mom! Makes you not feel so crazy.
Saturday we met up with friends at the pool and had some adult beverages while soaking up the sun:) Jack was so worn out after 3.5 hours in the pool that he napped until 7:15pm. Mike and I then headed to Whole Foods with Jack for our date night. I love that date night! Grocery shopping and then pizza and some wine:)

Sunday we went to Church of the Highlands with Gina and Brian. I have to say finding a church home is very hard after going to the same church since I have been 7 years old! This is the 3rd church we have checked out here and so far the most like Willow Creek. Great music and Bible based teaching. We are definitely going to check it out again. I am thinking it is time to put Jack in the nursery though so I can actually pay attention to the message. After church Mike made breakfast for us and then we relaxed. Well Jack and I did during his 2.5 hour nap, crazy Michael went for a run at 1 in the afternoon when it was 93 degrees out and sunny!
Once happy Jack was up from his long nap we headed to the pool. It is great to have a spot within walking distance to just meet up with friends and meet other parents!
For dinner I made veggie Quesadillas and then we skyped with the family:) Even the doggies skyped with each other!
Here are some pictures of Jack, Mike, and Dutch playing towards the end of the Sunday evening. I included some other quick house pictures (since I am being asked to do so daily:)) of the areas we spend most of our time...the kitchen and family room. I'll post more house pictures once things are all in order and I have some free time! Goal: by this Friday!

Jack is in bed so I should get my head on a pillow too! Night Night!

Sophia is One Hot Item

The other day I bought Jack, Sophia the Giraffe, she is a teething toy. From the moment we took Sophia out of the box at Buy Buy Baby it has been in Jack's mouth. From the moment we brought Sophia home Dutch has had his eye on her. Obsessed. Both of them! Moms I highly recommend Sophia, but beware of your four-legged babies confusion when you bring this lady home.

Settling In

It was a sad day yesterday, we had to drop Mom off at the airport:( I cried pulling away, I totally felt the same way I did when they dropped me off at college. Sad but excited. It will just take sometime to get used to the distance. But we are going to plan lots of trips to see them, and I am so happy that they like our new place and want to come visit us too:) Mike and I were so thankful Mom stayed to help us this week, it was pretty stressful moving and we got so much done with her! She was a little worker bee...and made great meals and fresh baked cookies for Mike when he got home. MarBear left some cookie dough in the fridge too and told me I needed to make fresh baked treats for my hubby more often...I think he really liked that lesson! So here are some more pictures for everyone!!!! Thank you again Mom!
I love our new backyard! The pictures of the bushes are for my oma, they are all rasberries! I'm very excited about this, as nerdy as it is!
Jack is starting to get up on all fours and rock back and forth. And that's a quick pick of our new rug that just got delivered that night.
