Home Is...

The Postma Home is on the move again. This time to Lousiville Kentucky. It's hard because I, as a Mom and Wife and Friend, felt like I found my place here. In Alabama. Jack has amazing friends he has literally grown up with.

But God has plans.

So to understand His plans more I went home to Chicago for a month. My Mom was amazing. I mean what woman wants her grown daughter and wild toddler to move into their pristine home for 4 weeks....well Mar did and loved it. She is amazing. So is Dad! They were fun, patient, and loving! I love where we live in Alabama, but let's get real I wasn't in a hurry to leave and be on my own again during the week, their home is pretty darn nice, who would want to leave?  Mike and I couldn't be more thankful for them. It's weird though because over the month my mind changed, I always thought "Home is where my Mom is.". Now I know that "Home is where my husband is". Good job Mom and Dad letting me learn to fly the nest:) Mike and I always thought we would own, and we did in Chicago, but now we have have to rent because of our short time periods in certain areas, but we still make it a home.

Mike is my home. Jack is my home. Even Dutch makes it home. I can't wait to be reunited as a family on a daily basis. This period has been rough, being apart. Thank you for the family and friends that have supported us!

Moments

Today I heard Ann Voskamp speak about her book One Thousand Gifts, and as a Mom I just loved this excerpt. Jack I couldn't have said it better to you, it is all about life's moments and the many gifts God has given us everyday. Sometimes I want to shake myself, shake others in my life, and say "Just enjoy NOW...this time...we will never get it back"! Why worry and rush and plan for tomorrow if we can't appreciate and enjoy today. The ones we are blessed with in our lives, the every day daily tasks that we will treasure once they chapter in our life is closed.

I have many weaknesses, but I believe that one of my strengths is that I appreciate each day, give thanks for the simple things and simple moments. Certainly I fall short and I can do a much better job at it still, I need reminders like this. But I learned at a young age that we aren't promised tomorrow. I am not guaranteed tomorrow with any of those that I love. Only God knows the timing. I must trust Him with that and not take for granted the time he gives me.

Maybe that's why I love taking pictures and started this blog. So that I can document the everyday Jack so you can look back and understand that we loved and appreciated the everyday with you and our family and friends. We have so much to be thankful for!

And what a wonderful time to be reminded of this than fall? The gorgeous trees, cool breeze, and colorful setting sun are there for us to enjoy. The challenge is to turn off the TV and put down the phone... and just pay attention to them and each other.

Ah, I just love this!

Farmer Jack & Farmer Mimi

Everyday just as the sun starts to lower Farmer Jack and Farmer Mimi go out to the garden to harvest fresh veggies and herbs for dinner and lunch the next day. Jack eats at least 2 dozen cherry tomatoes a day right of the vine. It's funny because Ben still won't eat fresh tomatoes because when he was little a warm fresh cherry one off the vine exploded in his mouth...Jack on the other hand thinks that exploding in the mouth think is just great.

Certainly have enjoyed being home during tomato season! Thank you Mimi & Papa for all of your hard work with garden, I have appreciated it everyday for almost a month at  on a slice of german rye for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. So yummy! Everything tastes a million times better when it is garden fresh (and I've been getting an excuse to try lots new recipes because of the garden abundance)!

AAAHHAPPLE

A few days before we headed back to Chicago Jack learned how to clearly and very excitedly say APPLE...it comes out like AAAHHAPPLE. He started saying it at his buddies Cooper's house, and then calling Cooper "Apple", so I wasn't really sure if Jack actually knew what the word meant. One of his first commands when we went to go visit Oma and Opa was "AAAHHAPPLE". Opa said "You want an Apple let's go pick one!". He took Jack out to the Apple tree and the kid was ecstatic that not only did Opa understand what he wanted but he got to grab them off the tree himself and eat as many as he wanted. It was super cute! At a young age Jack is learning that his fruits and veggies don't just come from the grocery store or fridge drawer:)

Mrs. Rinker...Spanish Teacher

The new Mrs. Rinker just started her job as a Spanish Teacher at Wheaton Academy! We are so proud of her so we wanted to make a trip out to see the school, her adorable classroom, and meet her cheerleaders. As you can only imagine Jack LOVED the cheer practice! So fun to see Lala in action. She is a natural!

GR Trip

What a week of travel last week was! Alabama to Kentucky, than to Chicago, next a day trip to Milwaukee, and then a night trip to Grand Rapids! All within 6 days. Good thing that we are all happy travelers. Jack is getting easier to travel with each time. Easier meaning the less stuff I have to take to occupy him with. Movies are finally working. And he loves looking out the windows to spot "TRUCKS"!!! Snacks, a juice, and a movie and we are set to go.

It is always great when we head up to the Postma household because everyone is there! Means a lot to us that all of the siblings come over and hang out with us when we are in town. Jack is a ladies man, so he loved playing with his Aunts. He can clearly say "KT". It is cute:) Jack's cousin Noah is 10 months old, the boys don't play together yet but I am hoping by Christmas they will. Watching Jack and Noah interact is great. I now know what people are talking about with the second kid being more content as they have the older first child to entertain them. Plus Noah is just so sweet and chill!

Quick trip but a great one!
Hopefully we will see everyone much more now that we are moving closer to "Pure Michigan".

I dropped my lenses cap through the deck so the boys literally took it apart for me to retrieve it!
