Nothing like playing catch in the backyard on a summer afternoon. These studs were reliving their glory days. They still have some good moves. Jack you have a lot of athletes in the family to learn from!

Cubs Game #2
During our summer vaca back to Chicago we attended our second Cubs Game of the 2011 season...Jack's first Cross Town Classic! It was a HOT one! Yes, I know we live in Alabama and 95 is the norm, but when it's 95 we don't all pack in next to each other in an open air stadium. We go to the pool. And we don't wear polyester jerseys:) Anyways, after the first 3 innings (and first 3 cold Old Styles), the lake breeze picked up and the rest of the game was a treat. Minus the Cubs losing. Eternal optimists:)

A Trip to the Land of Cheese and Sausage
One of my goals when we make a long trip back to Barrington, is to to make sure that we get a day trip in to see Oma and Opa at their house in Milwaukee. They are so good at making the drive down to Mom and Dad's to see us, but there is nothing like getting to entertain at your own home:) And let's get serious Jack would walk I think for an Oma lunch of cheese and sausage! Jack knows Oma and Opa and LOVES them. Jack and Opa are little soul mates, with an 80+ year age gap. Thankful that they took such good care of themselves so they can keep up with my little ball of energy. Uncle Mike even joined us for lunch. Lately, I am missing lake weekends. Love the beach and all. But I am a total Lake girl thanks to Aunt Deb & Uncle Mike. If I was in Chicago still I think I would be taking Jack up there for a week at a time! Let's just pray that scenario will be in the cards someday. After lunch we played in the sprinkler and then took a little trip over to Scout Lake to feed the ducks. Growing up this was one of my favorite field trips while visiting Oma and Opa, but I had a reputation to eat the stale bread before it even got to the ducks. Anyways, Jack was just as in love with feeding the ducks as I would have imagined. My heart hurts a little bit thinking about how I can't make those Milwaukee trips every week...but God has a plan...and it makes me appreciate each minute that much more!

Happy 56th Anniversary
Happy 56th Wedding Anniversary Oma and Opa!
I asked both what the key to a successful marriage is after 56 years of good times and bad times.
Oma said, "Compromise. You can't always be right, even if you darn well know you are, sometimes you just have to let it go."
Then I walked outside and asked Opa, "You have to give in, it's not a one way street".
Same answer. Amazing and sweet. I guess I better listen to it.
Thank you for being such wonderful role models for us all! You are both so loved:)

What counts in making a marriage is not so much how compatible you are, but how you deal with incompatibility. ~Leo Tolstoy

Happy 29th Birthday Preppy!
Birthday's do not go uncelebrated in this family! That is for sure. We love a celebration! And Mike's birthday is the perfect timing, it always kick starts 4th of July weekend for us. Mike was overseas all week and got back just in the nick of time to celebrate turning 29.
After dinner activity was catching fireflies. Starting to wonder if we are all too old to find this much amusement in it? But there are so many and it gets us running around after dinner. If it weren't for those mosquitos we would be out there a lot longer!
Jack was so happy to see his Daddy. This was the longest birthday Mike will ever celebrate as he started it over in England. He said they even sang him happy birthday on the plane.
