Kentucky Bachelor Pad

On our road trip home to Chicago we met Mimi & Papa at our new Kentucky home. At this point though it is more of a "Bachelor Pad" rather than a "home". Lot's of decorating to be done!

It was my first time to see the house as well. I trusted Preppy picking it out, the man knows what I want after all of this time. Happy to report it's great and I think we will be very happy. Obviously it's going to be an adjustment making new friends and finding our routine, but Preppy picked out a good location. Nice work Hubs. Jack just loved running around the open house and was very impressed with his new TV that his Dad got him..."Wow"...was the reaction. Jack, you are getting funnier every day and I love it! And it's great how flexible you are. Happy wherever you go as long as your groupies are with you.

Right now there is a new bed, TV, and a Tommy Bahama beach chair. Poor guy comes home to that after late nights at the office. Soon there will be a delicious meal cooking, a dog, and two very happy people to greet you with hugs and kisses! I promise.

Jack's dinner table.

Yes those ugly pendant lights are going to be the first things to go! But the guys in the picture are cute:)

TV is way too big for my liking, but I am picking my battles these days:) You know since we aren't going to be in this house forever. Whatever makes him happy after all of his hard work right!

A good eater...

At 20 months I do want to remember that you are a good eater Jack Postma! You want to eat though, WHEN YOU WANT TO EAT! So if a good meal is prepared then you are all about it. But if fruit snacks are all that is available you are all over that.

A New Chapter

My blogs have been very sparse lately. There is a big reason why. Things have been plain busy and crazy. Right before our trip back to Chicago for the 4th of July Preppy got a great job offer at one of MHT's companies based in Louisville Kentucky. Things move quickly on their end so starting mid July Mike was commuting during the week leaving me alone with Jacky Bear. After a quick 24 hour trip in 100 degree weather with a toddler to look at homes we decided to just rent again. Too many homes on the market and we just didn't fall in love with any of the 50 that were looked at. Plus, neither one of us know the area that well, so this will give us some adjustment time.

I have complete mixed emotions about this move. Mixed because I have made incredible friends down here in Alabama and the neighborhood where we live makes you feel like you are on vacation everyday! But this is a great opportunity for Preppy and our family. Plus we are that much closer to the family in Chicago and GR now! Hopefully we will have some more visitors:)

So Jacky Bear we are taking you on another adventure in a new state! The start of a new chapter in the story of our family. We will always have a special place in our hearts for Alabama. Who would have known! But I am not saying good bye yet so I am not going to go on and on for now....just going to enjoy each day while looking forward to the future.

While all of these changes are always difficult/scary it makes it much easier to have such a loving and supportive husband, family, and friends! God has a plan...

First Set of 64

Mike is gone every week in Louisville already. So as a "single mom" during the week...well they can just get long sometimes. But I do have a sweet hubby that leaves some presents for Jack when Mommy needs a little breather! Jack's favorite present has been his first box of 64 Crayons. At 19 months (well now 20) you just love to color. You ask for them, grab my hand and drag me over to the cabinet where I try to hide them. My little Picasso:) The video is of Jack opening his first box, he didn't know what they were at first and then was in heaven.

4th of July

"I thank God for my life, and for the stars and stripes...may
freedom forever fly, let it ring, salute the ones who died, the ones who gave their lives so we don't have to sacrifice all the things we love."-Zac Brown Band (Chicken Fried)

I LOVE the 4th of July. Always have. The fireworks, oldies music, baseball, brat tent, parades, picnics, family and friends. Plus I love America:) And I love celebrating the 4th of July back home in Barrington. It would be weird celebrating anywhere else. Usually we get in a lake trip during the holiday weekend, but this time it just didn't work. Super bummed about that but next year will be different!

Jack also loved everything about the 4th of July weekend. He was amazed at the fireworks. No fear at all! His first parade was a success as well. His Aunt Lala made sure that he got a good view and lots of his favorite candy (smarties). It made me smile from ear to ear that the whole family was together for these "firsts" of Jacks. There is so much we don't get to do together now that we aren't just down the street. So I cherish the moments we are all together. Jack is one loved boy:) God Bless America!
