Mike's iPhone Pictures

Over the weekend I uploaded some of Mike's iPhone pics, usually I share my pictures, but I thought I would post some of Mike's pictures of our life through his eyes!

So excited Mom & Dad are flying in today! It's perfect timing because I have been getting a little homesick. My days are just kind of lonely, just me a Jack. And I miss being with the family all the time! And I haven't seen my brother and Leah or Oma and Opa since Labor Day and that just feels too long. But I know God has a plan so I just have to keep that in my prayers. Plus, I have met so many amazing people down here and I feel blessed because of that. I just really need to start developing those relationships more.

Sorry about the rambling...on to the pics!

Jack and His Pumpkin

Jack picked out his first pumpkin today. Our intention was to go to a pumpkin patch where you take the hayride out to the patch and pick a pumpkin yourself....but the logistics sounded a bit tricky to us and we figured Jack wouldn't really remember doing such yet, so we will save that adventure for next year! Instead we headed to Whole Foods and Jack seemed equally entertained:) We snapped some pics off of our iPhone because I didn't want to seem to crazy with my big paparazzi camera out there.

Fall is in the air....

Feeding the Giraffes

Mike and I are huge animal lovers so we don't mind entertaining Jack by visiting our furry little friends at the local Birmingham Zoo, so that is what our little family did this beautiful Saturday morning. We laughed because we were the only people in shorts/a skirt. All of the southerns were already sporting their fall gear. Too funny. I wonder when that will change for Mike and I?

We walked around all of the exhibits but my big highlight of the day was feeding the Giraffes!!!! I was so excited!!! For $1 you can stand on the platform during designated feeding times and feed these gorgeous creatures. Giraffes are my FAVORITE! I have always loved them, I love that they are tall and awkward yet beautiful and graceful in their own way. I told Mike this may have to be our Saturday morning tradition, Jack will grow up telling his kids that on Saturday mornings he went to go feed the giraffes.

After the zoo Mike treated me to an a few hours to myself!!! I went to the Summit Mall and did some shopping where I actually got to try on clothes. AMAZING. It was so fabulous bopping in and out of stores, taking my time, not having to worry about Jack pulling down the displays or crawling out of the dressing room. It was so refreshing and miss all of my guys when I got home. Next we headed down to the neighborhood tailgate and said hello to a few friends. We couldn't stay because I'm still not 100% what is going on with Jack. But it was fun to get out and say hello.

Fun Saturday and tomorrow we are off to the Pumpkin Patch:)

Baby's Been Under the Weather

Poor little buddy has had a tummy ache. Not sure if it is because of teething or a little bug that has been going around. I have totally been that overprotective parent that hasn't put her baby in the nursery yet in fear of him getting sick, but he does have lots of little buddies he plays with around the neighborhood and we are out and about doing errands. Who knows what it is, but changing his diapers have made feel queasie as well....ok ok TMI.

Gina told me about the BRAT diet when they have tummy issues. Bananas Rice Apples Toast. I've been nursing him twice in the morning (even though I said I would be done at 10 months I'm still going) and then I have been giving him watered down Gatorade in the sippy cup. He's still been sleeping through the night and taking short cat naps throughout the day. We've laid low the past couple of days in case its contagious, but I did notice 4 teeth coming in so it may just be that.

Jacky bear and I have just been hanging out and taking walks. Jack's bid accomplishment is he now claps on demand or whenever Mickey Mouse comes on TV. I've been trying to teach him forever but he just hasn't been interested. Today he woke up and did it right away. It was like he was saying THANK YOU MOM:) Let me think that anyway...

Hopefully he feels better and we can do all of our fall activities this weekend!!!

Swingin' in the Park

Now that the pool is closed...shed tear...we are spending much of our time at the neighborhood park. Jack and I usually go once in the morning before nap time and then right before Mike comes home and he will meet us there.

Jack likes the swing but enjoys eating the mulch more. We like to bring Dutch but all of the little kids just want to pick him up like a little stuffed animal, they don't believe me that if they throw his toy he'll fetch it just like a big dog.

Anyways, the park is just another reason I am loving this neighborhood. 4pm is always a rough time, Jack is so busy looking around the house for trouble. So it is such a treat to meet up with my other Mommy friends. I am so thankful for them. "New Mommy" friends are essential to staying sane with a little one! If your a mom and you don't have any, go make some. You won't regret it!!!

PS...There are lots of pictures in this post but I can't choose I just think he's too cute:)

Sara Visits BAMA

*Note that this blog is like a week overdue...but these things happen with a 10 month old

One of my oldest and bestest of friends came to visit Our Postma Home! Sara arrived Thursday late afternoon, and all 3 of us, plus Dutch, were so excited to see her! Sara moved to Minneapolis a few years ago, and since then her trips back to Chicago have been jam packed with visiting everyone (which I now totally understand) so we haven't gotten to spend that much time with her one on one since we visited her in Minnie like right after we were married.

Anyways, it was such a treat to get Sara all to ourselves!!!! I warned her that our days and nights may be a little boring compared to the single out on the town lifestyle she is used too. It is such a comfort to be with a old friends. Sara is so dear to my heart and I just loved getting to show her our life now with Jacky Bear. I think she had a good visit, I hope she will come back again soon! Jack was in love with her...especially her pearly white teeth. She may have inspired him to be a dentist:)

Thank you Sara for making the journey down her and spending the time with us. Thank you for listening to me and for all your good advice, I was in need of best friend time:) LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!!

Couldn't get enough of Sara's pearly whites

10.10.10

90 degrees and the second weekend of October!?!?! Mike and I may be the only Alabama residents that are loving it! Although, we did have a lot of "Fall Activities" planned for this weekend that have been rescheduled. We just couldn't pick out pumpkins in this heat!

Anyways, it was a fun weekend. It started off with a Friday night dinner downtown Homewood at Jackson's Bar and Grill. A few weeks ago I had purchased a Groupon and had not gotten the chance to use it yet. So we used it to celebrate our baby boy turning 10 months old! We sat outside had some drinks, ate yummy food, and listened to live music. Then Mike and I watched "Remember Me", and I GUESSED THE ENDING! Mike always can guess the ending and it annoys me, but this time I GOT IT. I felt very smart.

Saturday morning we woke up and I made a weeks worth of whole wheat flax pancakes. That is our new tradition, waffles or pancakes on Saturday morning! I love it and so do all of my boys:) Plus, it makes breakfast the rest of the week uber easy because I just grab a frozen pancake or waffle and cut it up with fruit for Jacky Bear. Our neighborhood then had a Wine and Art Festival. Not really festival weather with the 90 degree heat and not a cloud in the sky. But it was great to hangout with neighbors. I love where we live (just wish I could move my family and friends here with me).

Sunday we went to church and heard and awesome message, did some Costco shopping, walking, and just playing. Next weekend we will do the Boo at the Zoo and Pumpkin Patch! Weekends go bye way to fast....

10 Months

10 months sounds so old. I know I say this every month but I can't believe how quickly the time has gone bye. Sure some days seem like an eternity, but Jack, now when I look at you it is incredible to me how much you have grown.

Everyday you become more BOY and less baby!

Your loves are: playing outside, balls, the dog, making a mess, talking and trying to sing, Mickey Mouse, giving kisses, and taking rides in your Radio Flyer Red Wagon. You are a little rough at times, like pulling your Mom's hair, and grabbing everything from every surface. You hate to hear the word "No", and put your head on the ground and pick it back up looking at me with a fat bottom lip and fake tears. Who in the world taught you that?

Jack you are a handful.

Sometimes I am amazed that I want another. Ha! But I am truly cherishing these days because I know that they won't always be like this. Food on the floor, little hands grabbing the back of my legs, handprints covering my windows. "MaMa" is all you say all day long. You are my little shadow. My little buddy.

Love you Jacky Bear, more and more each day.
Soo Big
