The Harris Family Visits Kentucky

What a wonderful weekend spent with a wonderful family! Such a great feeling to be with good good friends. The Harris's drove up from Alabama on Thursday night, I could not wait to get my hands on those adorable boys and spend some quality time with Gina! That lady made my transition to Alabama a breeze, I tell her all of the time that I have not met my "Gina" yet in Kentucky. God blessed me with the true friend I have found in Gina and I am so glad that living in different states has not strained our friendship one tiny bit!

Of course it was awesome to see Luke and Jack play together, Jack was so excited he followed Luke around all weekend, he gave the poor kid no personal space at all! Honestly Jack was smiling the entire time, made my heart hurt a little seeing how much he misses having little buddies around. The weather was not the best, 50 and rainy, but we still got in a tour of Kentucky. From Keenland to Woodford Reserve, to the pumpkin farm and the river front, we did it all! At night we enjoyed wine, bourbon, home cooked meals, college football, and catching up. 

Thank you Harris family for making the journey up to Louisville, I know road trips with two little ones is not relaxing, we loved getting to spend all of the time with you!!! XOXO

Happy 6th Anniversary Preppy

6 years, 3 states, 2 kids, 1 dog, and so many good memories. This anniversary was different than any other we have celebrated yet, with a 3 month old it made going out a little tricky, and with all of our traveling there is so much to get done around the house. So we celebrated at home with naps while the kids napped, racking leaves, and leftovers. It may not sound exciting but to me the images of yesterday were just what I had always dreamed of. When you get married there is no way to know what the future is going to bring for you. My only hope was that we could create a beautiful loving family together.

And you made that dream come true Preppy!

Lucy Meets More Friends

On our past 2 trips back to Barrington Lucy got to meet more fun friends. It makes me so happy introducing my little bundle, and so happy that I have such special friendships in my life. On Saturday night when I was alone with the kids Taylor and Whitney came over and hung out with us. Taylor gets a hundred iPhone pictures of Lucy but it was so awesome to finally get to show her off in person! Jack loved Whitney and could have put together puzzles with her all night long. Taylor is getting married in October, and I am not going to be able to make it, I feel like an awful friend and one day hope to make it up to her! She has been such a support to me always!

Glowing gorgeous pregnant Lolo made the trip out to the suburbs on Sunday to hangout with us. The girl looks way too good to be pregnant! Only a few more weeks until the big gender reveal and I can't wait! Lolo always brings Jack the best gifts and had a sweet outfit for Lucy. I love my time with her and it always feels too short.

Okay I have seen Jessica like a thousand times since our first trip home in August but we never get pictures! Jess is so thoughtful and sweet with the kids! I promise I will be a fun friend soon that doesn't always have a baby in tow:) But until then thanks for understanding and still wanting to hang out with me!

I Will Be Back...

There are so many pictures that need to, and will, be updated. The problem has been this precious little bundle of joy, I just want to soak in every adorable smile and coo. When not feeding her brother or cleaning up his messes, the two things he is really good at, I find myself just wanting to cuddle this wonderful pink "angel baby" as her Daddy refers to her. The crazy travel schedule since she has been born has also made it difficult to organize pictures. But get excited because after this week we actually get to stay home for two whole weeks! Lots of pictures and stories to come on the Postma family of four!

Weekend with Oma & Opa

Sweet Oma and Opa drove down on Saturday morning to spend the weekend with the kids and me. Mike was in Finland and Mimi & Papa in Charleston. It was the most relaxing weekend I have had in months. Opa racked leaves with Jack, took him on walks around the yard while telling stories, and gave him unlimited undivided attention. Oma rocked and sang to Lucy with a big smile on her face all weekend. I even got to run errands ALONE during nap time. It is crazy having a happy baby that eats only every 3 hours and that you can actually leave with people without the fear of a screaming attack. It is wonderful to just enjoy this sweet baby stage!

Oma made delicious meals and we ended Saturday night watching "Germans in America", which was surprisingly entertaining (but I love American history). I am just really thankful for Oma & Opa and the special relationship I have with them. Really wish I could spend more time with them, but I cherish every minute I get with them! Sunday night we celebrated Mom and Dad's wedding anniversary. Oma and I were cooking away in the kitchen all afternoon, with little Lucy of course. What an amazing time. I can only hope and pray that one day Mimi, Lucy, and my granddaughter will be cooking me up a fabulous meal to celebrate my 30plus anniversary with Preppy.

Brothers & Sisters

Before Lucy was born I couldn't fathom how in the world I would have enough love to share with another child, because I just loved Jack so much, and I didn't want him to feel any less love once his sister was born. Well it amazed me the second that I held both of my kids on that hospital bed how my love wasn't having to be divided, the love I had to give just multiplied. Then when I watched Jack study his new sister looking at her tiny hands and feet and squishy face, I think my heart literally smiled.

I had given Jack a sister and Lucy a brother, they now have a best friend for the rest of their life. At least that is one of the prayers on the top of my list, that they create and maintain a strong loving sibling bond! One of the most important relationships in my life is that with my brother Ben. I'm sure it's different than the sister sister relationship because obviously we grew up having different interests, but we also weren't competitive with each other than, we got to thrive doing our own activities. Ugh if Ben was a girl I would probably hate it because he definitely got the better body and athleticism gene:) Just being honest!

I love that we can laugh together, give each other advice, cook a meal together, not talk for a week but it be okay, and simply know that we have one another to lean on through any obstacle and we have one another to celebrate with. I love him, I am proud of him, and I feel blessed to have him as my brother. I just hope and pray that Jack and Lucy say the same thing about each other when they are almost 30.

Jack is very sweet to Lucy. He brings her the Nuk, kisses her head, and calls her "so sweet". Of course he doesn't want her to lay on his blanket or have one of his toys be near her, Jack likes to keep things "separate". He is proud to declare to everyone that he is the big brother!

Jack I hope you are always proud to be Lucy's big brother, and Lucy I hope you are always thankful you have him!

On today October 3rd, I remember to take time to appreciate the sibling relationship I have with Ben, as it is the anniversary of Sara's brother's Dave passing away our junior year of high school. Sara still misses Dave everyday, I can't imagine the loss, but she has assurance she will see him again! DLB will always have a special place in my heart and  I learned at a very young age from losing Dave to cherish the special relationship of a brother.
