Jack picked out his own costume this year, a pilot. Pretty sure he didn't even know what the costume was, only that it came with an orange whistle. I wanted one more year of a cuddly little animal, but he needed a size 5 and all of the cutesy costumes stopped at size 3. Once I added some aviators to the getup, and downloaded the "Top Gun" theme song so he could dance around the house, it grew on me as a little Maverick look. It is hard to see him grow up, the little boys stage is oh so cute (while oh so challenging).
Lucy was a Packers cheerleader, thanks to her Papa. At night she was my little partner passing out candy to the masses of kids in our neighborhood, it totally wore her out and she passed out. Mike said Jack was really into the trick or treating for about 4 houses and then remembered how we had a whole basket of candy at our house and wanted to head home. Jack loved handing out candy to all of the kids too! We let him enjoy a few pieces of candy but by the next morning he totally forgot about it. Out of sight out of mind. We also told him Santa is going to come and take his candy and give him money for it. I know it doesn't make sense, but I was flustered thinking he would eat the whole bucket, and he believed me.
While I don't decorate for Halloween we still have a few family traditions like going to the pumpkin patch (we don't crave because Preppy is not a fan), making chili, and watching Charlie Browns "The Great Pumpkin". I also get to break out the fall candles, my favorites are from Swan Creek Candle, Snickerdoodle and Hazelnut.
Like I said, having kids makes it impossible to overlook any holiday, their excitement is contagious!
*I found this throw back picture of Preppy that I had to add!
