Blackberry Picking

Berry picking is one of my favorite childhood memories. We always had rasberry bushes on my paretns property and I loved filling up my hands with them on warm summer afternoons. It's a simple summer pleasure. Like catching fireflies or eating Popsicles in your swimsuit. On our morning walk yesterday, Mimi and Jack found some delicious Blackberries on the side of the trail. Jack is always traveling with a cup (his favorite thing) so we filled it up with these yummy little antioxidant rich berries and he ate the whole thing. Sharing a few. There are many more left to be picked out there. If my Oma was here we would have lost her for the whole day! And then she would be in the kitchen whipping up some homemade jam. If my abundance of blackberries and handsome little 18 month old can't lure her to visit us in the South than I don't know what can...:)

Waving "Bye Bye" to Papa

*I am not planning to make jam but I may have to make one of these with my little berries:)
Blackberry Mule
In a cocktail shaker muddle 5 blackberries, add 2 ounces gin or vodka, and 2 teaspoons lime juice. Shake well and strain into a glass filled with ice. Add springs of mint and top with ginger beer or ginger ale. Makes 1 drink.

That drink looks tasty - I'll have to have one NEXT summer.

So glad you are having fun with your parents!
