Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to my Preppy who is becoming a more amazing Dad every day. This 18 month stage is hard and you are becoming a more patient person every day with Jacky Bear. You are such a hard worker and do everything you can to give our little family such a wonderful life! Thank you for making us both laugh and keeping life exciting! It is so fun to watch Jack copy you at everything you do, you are for sure his biggest hero.

Cubbie Bear Blue is their color!
Laughing so hard he couldn't smile.

Thank you to my Dad, you are by far the greatest Dad a girl could ask for you. You are incredibly supportive but have also let me go and grow on my own as well. A master of encouragement and always there to listen. You have always taken interest in our lives, and went along with the changes in our life even if that means we are not 5 minutes down the road. There isn't a day that we don't go by talking even as crazy busy as you are these days. Thank you for your unconditional love and continuing to be the beloved patriarch our awesome family:)

Papa always gives Jacky Bear his baths whenever he is around.

Playing night golf on the RB greens.

Thank you to my Opa for continuing to play such and active role in our lives. You were always there for Ben and I when we were little but watching you develop a relationship with Jack is a gift that I know not many people get to experience. Thank you for all of our weekly phone chats and always saying "I love you" at the end.

Thank you to Grandpa Postma for taking such good care of Jack every chance you get! And the dogs! We wish that our drive to GR was only 3.5 hours like it used to be so we could see you more often!

We want to say Happy Father's Day to all of our fun Uncle's too!!!! Jack has so many awesome role models in his life!

I think being a Mom is hard, but sometimes I think being a Dad is so much harder. I get to stay home and spend so much time with Jack, but as a Dad you have to work long hours, travel, deal with stress at work, and then come home and have to be this loving/kind/patient/playful person...to a sometimes not so happy little kid.

But as Bill Hybels said to today, "Never underestimate the influence a father has on their child's life". He gave amazing examples of what a strong nurturing relationship can do for child and what long lasting scars a bad father/child relationship leaves. He also referenced Luke 3:22, "and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: "You are my Son whom I love: with you I am well pleased".  Bill exampled that our Heavenly Father spoke these words to His Son Jesus Christ and laid out three important points that all Dad's should forever communicate to their children. 1.) You are mine. 2.) You are loved. 3.) I am proud of you. All kids yearn for these 3 basic things, toddlers to 50 year old men. A fantastic father will communicate these things a million time to their children throughout their lives.

As I blog this I am listening to Mike and Jack chat away on the couch and singing to Sesame Street songs. I am just thankful and blessed that Jack will always know he is our son, he is loved, and we are proud of him.

Happy Father's Day!!! XOXO
