On Sunday back in Barrington we celebrated Dad and Opa on Father's Day. The church service talked about the important "gifts" that father's leave for their children, basically the life lessons they give their kids that enhance their children's lives. My Dad has given me many gifts as he has been a wonderful role model. I am a girl and his daughter so obviously there are things we can't relate on, that's why I have my Mom:) But he is a man who "walks the walk" and one that you can't help but look up too (and not just because he is 6'9). Throughout my life he has shown kindness, compassion, and patience. He is an encourager of people and does not let the opinions of others define him. He is genuine and has amazing integrity. While he is incredibly motivated he does not let work rule his life, family always comes first. He has loved my Mom with all his heart their whole marriage and is always lovin' on her, I appreciate that one now that I am older:) He has always made his kids feel important and loved, very involved in our lives but has given us the responsibility to make our own decisions. The service asked us to list these gifts and share them with our Dads if we were lucky enough to spend the day with them! So there you go Dad:) Thank you for all of the "gifts" you have given and continue to give us Dad!
We celebrated with a backyard BBQ and simply spent the day relaxing together. It ended with a beautiful sunset. Jack soaked in all of the attention he could get from his people, Aunt Lala & Mimi spoiled him with gifts even though it wasn't his day, and the kid LOVES presents. Baby girl got some goodies too! I noticed that most of the pictures were taken on my Mom's camera so I can't upload those, but here are a few that I captured Father's Day!
