Happy Two And A Half Birthday to my little man!
Jack weighs 35.5 pounds and measure in at 40" inches! Wearing size 3 to 4 shirts, 2 to 3 shorts, and a size 10 shoe. Love to wear your "horses" and a belt. Every morning you tell me what color you want to wear, usually it matches the same color shirt your Daddy left the house in.
Favorite Foods: cereal, watermelon, all types of berries, apples, nuts, rice cakes, eggs, bacon, sandwich roll ups, homemade cookies & Popsicles, grilled chicken, broccoli, edamamme, and carrots. You like to dip everything in mustard or Greek yogurt or thousand island dressing. In the past month all processed snack foods, most sugar besides the homemade goodies, and juice has been cut out of your diet and you have adjusted just fine. Milk and water quench your thirst. You are specific with your request though, like what eating utensil and cup you want things in, and ice/no ice. Mostly, Jack feeds himself but there are days when you like to play the airplane game still, and tell us how much you want on each spoonful, like "3 blueberries" or "5 cherrio's".
Favorite Things to Watch: "Toy Story" is the chosen movie for car rides, you are loving Woody and Buzz. The "girl" has officially been replaced. Baby's First Channel captures your attention, you call it the "colors" channel, you love the vocabulary segments and when they teach you how to draw things. The Leapfrog series is your favorite thing to watch in the morning. You love to recite numbers and the alphabet along with the little puppies. Finally you will sit and watch some TV, just in time for baby girl to come! On the iPhone when we are shopping you play a shapes game, amazed at the complicated shapes you can now point out to me.
Favorite Books: Planes, Trucks, Boats, and Airport by Byron Barton. You LOVE these books and have memorized the Plane and Airport book already. I am starting to think you have your Dad's photographic memory. These simple books can be read 50 times a night and you still find them so interesting pointing to everything that is happening on the page.
Favorite Activities: Coloring, you can draw vertical lines and circles (as well as scribble), you are very proud that you can color sunshine's and banana's. Play dough, this is an outdoor activity for the picnic table and you like to create fun things and mesh all of the colors together. Playing catch is pretty fun with you now as you have a great arm that is pretty darn accurate, but you need help with catching. Golf, of course, is another passion at 2.5 years old. You like to go to the pool and swim around now putting your face under with little hesitation, you use your arms and legs no problem. The puzzles, cars and Lego's are your favorite toys these days. Also, you like to show us how many numbers with your fingers, you concentrate really hard on this.
Sleeping: Bedtime is around 9pm and you wake up right after Daddy leaves the house in the morning, usually at 7:15am. Naps occur anywhere from noon to 1:30pm and you go down for 1.5 to 2 hours. There are some days you will sleep for almost 3 hours and other days (like today) that you won't nap at all. Jack is still in the crib and shows no signs of wanting to change that. You like to be put down with all of your blankets, pacifier, and the sound machine on. We noticed that you do get the occasional night terrors but you calm yourself right back down never really waking up. When you wake up you call out, "Momma where are you?", and then you usually have something random to tell me like that you have superpowers or Happy Birthday or how many more days you have left until Mimi & Papa's house. Not sure if you dream about these things or if you lay awake in the crib a bit just thinking. They are some of my favorite conversations and always make me laugh. I can never pass up your sweet request to snuggle in the "big bed" as you will still fall asleep in my arms.
Things We Need to Work on: No hitting or kicking, which you do when you get frustrated, not hard but you do it and then you are put into time out. Whining! I hear "help me" a thousand times a day and we are working on your big boy voice. Only using the pacifier at times when you sleep, somehow you find them everywhere and "cork" yourself up. Walking by yourself as you still like to be carried everywhere. But when you aren't being carried you are running, skipping, or hopping. And lastly potty training! No interest in that one yet.
It amazes me what a sponge you are at 2.5 years old, you love to do anything in where you can learn. And it amazes me how you remember things so quickly now! You know all of your letters, colors, numbers, and shapes. Jack speaks clearly most of the time, but I can still understand him the best:) Jack now loves to help out too in anyway he can (when he wants too). Like set the table, sweep, unload the dishwasher, put away clothes, ect. One thing Jack does not like to do is put away his own toys! You will still go shopping with me, quick shopping trips to "one store", and you like to pick things out for Baby Girl. When we shop you ride in the stroller for a little bit and then you either want to walk, be held, or grab things yourself. You are cute when you do it because you like to point out everything but shopping trips are a test of patience for me. And you always poop when we are out shopping. It never fails. When we are out running errands you like to dance in the backseat too. I love it!
Jack Says...
"Best Friends" or "Happy Family" when you give me a big hug.
"It's a pretty nice day out, huh"!
"Daddy goes to work and makes money."
"Daddy goes to work and sit by computers."
"Papa flying on an airplane and waiting on his bags". That is Papa's job.
"Mimi plays golf". You think that is her job.
"Baby Lucy in the belly at doctors."
"Poop" or a "bug" if there is anything on the ground that shouldn't be there.
"Darn it".
"I'm a hot mess".
"Eww...Yucky", and you scrunch up your little nose.
"Sunshine today", when you watch the weather report.
"I do it! I do it!"
"Thank you", after I tell you I love you.
"Mama fix my hang nail", not sure what you see but you like me to give you "mani" and "pedi".
"Hit it in the hole."
"I farted" or "I burped", you laugh and say "excuse me", and then you get real quiet and whisper "listen for more", and laugh hysterically.
"In the morning", when we ask you to do something you don't want to do.
"Eat dinner now", when you want to eat a meal.
"You looking at pictures? Ok, let's see ya." When I am at the computer he like to see himself.
"Go shoppin' for Baby Lucy".
"Mama Pretty", you still compliment me all of the time:)
"Daddy go get shorts on", as soon as he gets home from work you go change together and put his shoes away for him. We don't have many routines since life is always changing but you love this one.
Lastly, you love to countdown how many days you have left until your next adventure, especially when it comes to going to Mimi and Papa's house.
Jack Michael Postma you are one very loved boy and make me excited to wake up every day!
