Ending Summer in Barrington

This summer was one of anticipation, wonder, waiting, a little worry, and finally celebration of sweet Lucy Hope joining our family. It was also a very hot summer. Very hot. And also a short summer, I think because it was our first traditional midwestern summer, not the long southern style summer that starts in April and ends in October.

While Preppy headed over to Finland and then Maine for work, the kids (still getting used to that) and I got to hangout in Barrington with the family. Jack is in Heaven there, Mimi & Papa are unbelievable with him. He just follows them around asking questions and giving instructions. Jack knows best. This let me tend to all of Lucy's needs. At 1 month old she is still eating all of the time, not sleeping much, and wants to be held. Period. We made use out of the circular driveway, Jack just runs around it, 36 times around is a mile. Lucy always falls asleep on lap 35. Pretty sure the neighbors think we are crazy as we walked around it like hamsters. But the boy has to get out his energy! I try to keep him outside as much as possible so he doesn't destroy Mimi's perfect house. It's not that Jack is that bad but you always are on edge at other people's houses. So the deck was his hangout when we could dodge the bees:)

Of course there were plenty of snuggles, sunsets, and family dinners. Thank you Mimi & Papa for letting us finish out the summer with you! So many sweet moments and there is no way this momma could have survived on her own with two kids on 3 hours of sleep for the two weeks!
