Lucy's 2nd Week Home

Lucy still sleeps a lot and cuddles a lot. It's the calm before the storm and I am just enjoying it. Preppy and Mimi have given me the greatest gift of taking care of Jack and the house so I can just bond with little Lucy. I spend most of my days on the big leather chair holding her. Listening to the little sounds she makes, watching her breath, and letting her wrap her tiny hand around my fingers.

Jack is not that interested in Lucy yet, mainly because his best friend Mimi is here to give him her complete attention during the day. Every morning they go on a long walk, then a run with the dogs, and after that play outside until it's lunch time. Mimi tried leaving this past weekend as she thought we had everything under control. I quickly vetoed that one! We love having her here and I am taking full advantage of the two weeks she volunteered to stay here. Also, Jack loves all of the gifts that he keeps getting from friends & family, they always arrive after nap time!

When Mike comes home they all head to the pool, we are trying to squeeze in all the summer we can for Jacky Bear. Mike and Jack have built such a strong bond over these past 6 weeks. Jack can't wait for Mike to walk through the door at night, he gets so excited he can't even get out words he just babbles with enthussiasm. This past weekend they even had their first big father son outing to the Louisville bats game.

Our days are simple and pretty peaceful considering there is a two year old and two week old under one roof. The lack of sleep is starting to catch up to me, but I feel so blessed and happy, so I don't dwell on it. Plus, I know how quickly these rough months go bye. More than anything I am just in love with my family!

The week ended with Papa back in town and a BBQ with the Carpenters. I cried when Mom & Dad pulled out of the driveway to head back to Chicago. I think because I was a little scared about handling two kids by myself all day and I think because I was just so grateful to have her here with me for these past two weeks.

We wore Mimi & Papa out! Pretty sure Jack had colored on Papa's face here.
