Day Trip to Visit Oma & Opa

One of my favorite things to do when we come back to Chicago is go on a day trip up to my Oma & Opa's house. They are two of the most special people, we just love them so much!

Jack was very excited that I turned his seat facing the front for this road trip, and that the movie screen was perfectly centered and at just the right height for him. He just couldn't believe that Mickey was in the car. I know that you are supposed to wait until they are 1 year old and 20 lbs. Jack is definitely over 20 lbs. and just a couple of weeks shy of 1 year. He was just getting very angry facing backward and it made me such an anxious driver with a crying baby. Facing front is much more entertaining for him. Funny thing about the DVD too, he won't watch a TV show unless he is in the car or in his highchair. I guess he needs to be constrained. Forward facing + DVD= A wonderful car ride:)

Oma had a fabulous lunch and dinner for all of us. Jack always eats whatever she puts in front of him. Beets, carrots, cauliflower, bean salad, lots of cold cuts from the German butcher shop, vanilla custard...like I said just about anything. I guess we eat everything yummy she makes so why wouldn't he? Opa is great with Jack, I feel so blessed that Jack gets to form a relationship with his Great Grandpa. So cool.

Great family. Great food. Great day.

Eating EVERYTHING!

Looking at the Birds.

Jacks first encounter with my Mom's creepy childhood doll. He had no clue what to do with her.

Sweet boy. The fact that she has creepy eyes didn't bother him. Sharing the love...

"I love not having pants on!"

Looks like it is Bed Time!
