Oh, there’s no place like home for the holidays,
‘Cause no matter how far away you roam,
When you pine for the sunshine of a friendly gaze,
For the holidays, you can’t beat home, sweet home.
I had that Perry Como song stuck in my head for the 10.5 hour car ride back to Barrington...
Take a bus, take a train
Go and hop an aeroplane
Put the wife and kiddies in the family car
For the pleasure that you bring
When you make that doorbell ring
No trip could be too far
This year the holidays are very different for me, for our little Postma family. I have never lived far away from home. Sure I went away to college but I still had my room, things at my house, my little piece of territory. Even when we got married my closet was full with the opposite season wardrobe. But in June everything was packed up.
This year we did move far away and the thought of getting to come HOME for the holidays made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Christmas is going to be a little different this year (I'm just not going to think about it). But I knew that Thanksgiving was going to be our traditional Pranke/Rinker/Postma Thanksgiving!
Once again we had an amazing Thanksgiving up at Pine Lake, hosted by my Uncle Mike and Aunt Debbie. I am so in love with the Wisconsin Lake Country. It's so gorgeous with the calm water, tall trees, and hills. Every time I get to spend time with my "big" family (that includes my Aunt, Uncle, Cousins, Oma & Opa) I just count my blessings and soak in every minute. We don't get to see each other nearly as much as we used to, I always appreciated it then too, but now it's just on a whole different level. They are my family and I just love them.
Thankful for so much year!

You can’t beat home, sweet home.
This Christmas classic has always been one of my very favorites but I didn't connect so well with the lyrics until this year. A bit corny you may say. But haven't you come to know me by now? I am a little bit corny always:)
