Mimi and Papa were here to spoil Jack, which left Mike and I plenty of time to bond with our new sweet little girl. The hospital staff at Norton were wonderful, they practiced "Kangaroo Care", which meant that Lucy barely left our side for anything even right after birth. Only once a day for 3 minutes to check her vitals. I could have put her in the nursery but it was just me staying in the hospital this time at night because I felt great. It was fun to have our first girls night! The first night she woke up for some "girl talk" and didn't go back down until the wee hours, but who could blame her, the bassinet at the hospital was probably not as comfy as the womb. She preferred my arms and I just can't get enough of holding her.
Mike is so sweet with Lucy. He is the master at diaper changes and swaddling. Watching him care for her makes me smile from ear to ear. The hospital was crazy busy, all of the rooms were full, and overflow went to the 6th floor. So we spent most of our time just hanging out in the room, it was so relaxing just having the time to us. Very thankful to my parents for giving Mike and I that special time. We didn't have to worry about Jack one bit, he was having the time of his life with them.
Recovery has been like nothing and she feeds like a champ! Already this second baby thing is much easier than the first time around. I think that it is a combination of Lucy already a more low key baby than her brother and us being more confident parents!
