The first week home with our new beautiful addition was basically spent on cloud nine. Lucy Hope mostly slept, nursed, and cuddled. Rarely did our pink bundle of joy cry. Mike headed back to work Monday morning, but I had Mimi, so all was good!
Having my Mom at the house gave me plenty of time to just hold and bond with sweet Lucy while she kept Jack busy. They are best buddies Mimi and Jack, he follows her everywhere, asking lots of questions along the way. So far Jack has done great with having Lucy in the house, he doesn't really pay much attention to her at all, but one time I did find him playing his Mickey guitar for her and dancing around the swing.
He will look at her and say, "ooooohhhh she's so little". It's adorable and I have to catch that on camera. She is so little, and then Lucy tucks up into this little ball, and then stretchs her arms and legs way out. I forgot how teeny tiny they start out. This little miracle with her whole life a head of her. We play the game of "who does she look like", at this time Lucy favors her Mom, but I have a feeling her Dad's blue eyes are starting to shine through.
Two nights in the first week Lucy gave her Mommy and Daddy a 4.5 hour stretch of sleep. I can totally function off 4 hours of sleep, crossing our fingers its the norm and not just some fluke. Welcoming baby #2 into our house has been much different than with #1. We are just so much more relaxed, not afraid of breaking the baby, and we know that these sleepless nights all come to an end soon enough. Every moment we are trying to enjoy. Our family feels so complete and I just feel incredibly blessed.
